The final eight British five-shilling Crown coins

In 1951 the British five-shilling Crown celebrated its 400th Anniversary. In 1981, just thirty years later, the last was issued. The Longon Mint Office is pleased to bring you a collection of the last eight crown coins issued with the historic face value of five shillings (and then its equivalent, twenty five pence, in the decimal era).
Celebrate great events of our era

The eight coins are all commemoratives and they celebrate some of the great events of our time, the Coronation and the Silver Jubilee of our Queen, the death of Sir Winston Churchill, the 80th birthday of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and the wedding of Charles and Diana.
Important 'firsts' for British coinage

There are important 'firsts' in the history of British coinage amongst these coins - such as the first commoner ever to appear on a coin of the realm (1965 Churchill), the first Crown to be struck with the face value 'Five Shillings' in words (1951 dual commemorative), the first coin to be struck devoid of any lettering or numerals whatsoever on one side (1977 Jubilee).
A finish befitting the proud history of the crown coin

Each coin has been layered with 24 carat gold then each one undergoes preparation by skilled craftsmen, who accent the main design motif in rhodium-platinum. Rhodium-platinum is the rarest and most valuable platinum metal and is widely considered to be the most valuable precious metal in the world. This accenting is applied individually, one coin at a time, and is an incredibly time intensive process which achieves the most striking contrast, throwing each design into astonishing relief.
Only 499 sets are available - will you own one of them?

Just 499 of these sets are being released, and to validate this, each set includes an individually numbered gold layered ingot. Respond today to secure your set.
