Hold philatelic history in your hands. Commemorate the four-cornered adhesive token, the WORLD'S FIRST STAMP, responsible for revolutionizing communication across all four corners of the globe.

In 1840, the beginning of a revolution was upon the nation and soon enough, the world. The world’s first adhesive postage stamp, the Penny Black, was released and became the face of the postal service reform, introduced by Rowland Hill. Its straight edges containing a pool of colour, as dark as the night sky, embellished with twisted regal pillars, the perfect frame to compliment the crest, the main feature, the portrait of an icon and once longest reigning monarch, Queen Victoria. Before the reform, receiving a letter through the post would have cost the equivalent of twelve loaves of bread, a service many could never afford. There were many anomalies within the local system with varied chargers throughout. This system was widely abused and resulted in a huge loss of revenue within the postal service. Rowland Hill’s invention of the pre-paid postage stamp transformed an inconsistent postal service to a state of equilibrium.

Features a remastered design from the world’s first adhesive postage stamp - the Penny Black. The design features twisted regal pillars - the perfect frame to compliment the crest, the portrait of an icon and once longest reigning monarch, Queen Victoria. Tucked into the bottom corners are the letters ‘A’ and ‘A’. These letters were used to indicate their position on the printing plate and in this case ‘A’ and ‘A’ is a reference to the first stamps on the printing plates.
