Thank you for your interest in the 'Britons, Join Your Country's Army!’ Ingot.

Produced in partnership with Imperial War Museums, the ingot depicts one of the most famous recruitment posters from the First World War.  The image first appeared on the front cover of the London Opinion magazine on 5 September 1914 and quickly appeared on walls all over the country. The design by Alfred Leete shows Field Marshal Earl Kitchener (1850-1916), then the Secretary of State for War pointing directly at the viewer appealing to them to enlist.  Its simple approach was highly effective and helped Kitchener to organise the largest volunteer army that Britain had ever seen.
