Obverse: A portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by renowned artist and sculptor Raphael Maklouf. His tribute to honour Her Majesty on her 90th birthday was created in 2016.
Reverse: Features original wartime photography licensed from the Imperial War Museums. The Battle of the Atlantic has been called the “longest, largest and most complex” naval battle in history, commencing on 3 September 1939 and coming to a close on 8 May 1945. The photograph depicts a depth charge explosion astern of HMS Starling. Mk VII depth charges, which were the standard anti-submarine weapon at the beginning of World War II, can be seen in the racks on the quarter-deck. The photograph is printed upon stacked letters and postcards which have been positioned as if they have just been opened by the recipient with the twine rope forming a partial border to the design
