After more than a hundred years hidden between the leaves of a book deep in the vaults of the Smithsonian Museum, “One of the most beautiful designs of all times” has finally been brought to life in Pure Silver. The discovery was a revelation and we are very excited to announce that at last, these wonderful images have finally been brought to life on a Pure Silver Medal, available to you know for just £99! This beautiful commemorative has been struck to the highest possible standard - Proof and comes complete with an informative story card

The medal features two female figures, one Britannia and the other a female personification of the city of London, flanked by a cherub and a lion. In the background is the famous St Paul’s Cathedral, the place where they held a thanksgiving service to celebrate the recovery of Queen Victoria’s son, (the later King Edward VII) from a severe illness in 1872.

The inscription beneath reads, “London, February 28th 1872” while the obverse depicts a previously unseen image of a veiled Queen Victoria. The coin has also been engraved with the letters ‘SI’ to the left of Queen Victoria to recognise it is an official product of the Smithsonian Institute
