OBVERSE: A portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by renowned artist and sculptor Raphael Maklouf. His tribute to honour Her Majesty on her 90th birthday was created in 2016.
REVERSE: Features original wartime photography licensed from the Imperial War Museums of the Anglo-American invasion of French North Africa, codenamed Operation Torch. The photograph depicts American troops on board a landing craft heading for the beaches at Oran in Algeria in November 1942. Not only did the operation provide the 'second front' that the Soviet Union had been requesting since being invaded by the Germans in 1941, it successfully forced the Vichy French commander to order full cooperation with the Allied. The photograph is printed upon stacked letters and postcards which have been positioned as if they have just been opened by the recipient with the twine rope forming a partial border to the design.
