When we think of Queen Elizabeth II, it is often difficult not to do so without the image of a corgi dog at her feet coming to mind.
Her late Majesty rode on many ceremonial occasions, particularly Trooping the Colour, and for many years she rode atop a Royal Canadian mounted police horse called Burmese which is depicted on the photograph that has been featured on this coin. Having ridden Burmese since 1969, the Queen was mounted on her when six blank shots were fired during a parade in 1981, and, although the horse was startled, the late Queen displayed her excellent skills as a horsewoman and was able to bring her under control.
