The '40th Anniversary of the One Pound Coin' Proof Sterling Silver One Pound
Since its introduction 40 years ago, the One Pound coin design has changed nearly every year. It is only fitting, therefore, that the very first design, the Royal Coat of Arms, has now been remastered in the same year as His Majesty King Charles III’s portrait makes its debut on the champion of British coinage.
STRUCK ON THE KING’S 75th BIRTHDAY!
The very first modern pound was struck 40 years ago on Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday, 21 April 1983. Now, the entire mintage of the 40th Anniversary Proof Sterling Silver One Pound coins was minted in London on the 75th birthday, of King Charles III, 14th November 2023. The coin’s reverse includes the important dual dates of 1983 – 2023.
